A awesome place

The library in general is very nice,it clean but when the kids get out of school they come there to hang out and they make a lot of noise.Which make it hard to study.

I’m reviewing this as a study space, I’ve not used their lending/ILL/computer services. This place rivals most NYPL branches as a study space, except for one important detail. The strange molded wooden chairs in the reading areas are the most UNCOMFORTABLE things I’ve ever sat on. They are TERRIBLE!!! There are nicer chairs in the (louder) lobby, but most of them aren’t near an outlet so they aren’t that useful as study spaces. My back and bottom were in so much pain that I’d rather take the half hour drive to campus and do work there. Also, more outlets throughout (including the reading room) would be nice. It's also closed on Sundays. But on the positive side, the library facilities are very nice and relatively modern. It’s a very pretty building. It’s reasonably quiet as a place to study. Numerous security guards keep noise down, though their presence is very off-putting. Staff is friendly. If you don’t mind the chairs or can work in one of the nicer chairs, it’s a nice place to quietly do work without distraction.

Brentwood library offers so much more than just books - it's no coincidence it's always full of people. It has three floors with the main floor for adults and the teen center in the corner. The top floor is exclusively for children. The latest DVDs are available to rent as well as free passes to go to museums on Long Island and a few in NYC. Different types of programs are available so it's best to check their website for more information. By far my favorite part of the library is the room which holds Brentwood's history - from pictures to hand written letters as well as all the yearbooks from the local high school. Just ask the person at the desk to see them.

I came in to write a paper for school which is due tomorrow and I spent 2 hours finalizing my paper. The security guard tells us "you have 4 minutes to print" so I go to hit print and the computer just shuts off even though he clearly just said I had 4 minutes. Then I'm like what the hell I need this paper and the only thing they can say is sorry your paper is lost. Are you kidding me. So it's 8:45pm and the library closes at 9pm and you guys could not turn the computer back on for me to retrieve my work. What great service, thanks for nothing. I literally just walked out to sit in my car and cry for 15 minutes from being so damn upset. I will never come back here again. A heads up 15 minutes ahead of time would have been great followed by letting us know hey if you dont print or save NOW the computer will shut down automatically!!!!!! Telling someone oh well sorry it's lost like they have no idea how much work I put into this and what impact it has on my grade. Thanks for nothing and this will never be forgotten.
